Adding videos

You can add your personal video files or YouTube links to your website. Videos make your website more interactive and interesting for the visitor, as many people prefer watching videos to reading text.

Adding video files for download

You can add your own personal video files, which have been for example shot with your digital video camera. The files are uploaded to your website by using the file browser. After the upload is complete, you can link those files directly to your page. By clicking the link to the file, a user can either download it onto his/her computer, or view it using their video player (e.g. Windows Media Player).

Here's how to do it:

1. Open the content page editor by clicking on the 'lightning bolt' icon

2. Type in to the text field for example 'Download our demo video'

3. Select the text by holding down the left button of your mouse, and click on the 'insert/edit link' icon. This opens a small new window

4. In the window, click on the 'select file', which opens the file browser. In the file browser, select 'browse' from the upper-right hand corner to determine which file you wish to upload. After selecting the file, click on 'send', which will make it appear in the file browser. After the upload is complete, click on the green check mark, which appears after the file.

5. Now this text has become a link to your selected video file. Click 'Save' to save the page.

Essentially you can add any video to your site, but the viewer needs a video player in order to view the file. Computers come with video players, which can play the most common video files, such as .avi, .wmv, .mpg and .mov. The YouTube videos work directly through a video player installed onto the user's browser and work on almost every computer automatically.
