How To: Handle Social Media Misfits

Friday 7/30/10 - Heikki @Moogo

baddie.jpegSocial networks are great. Plain and simple. They make it possible for you to connect with like-minded people and grant you a platform to express thought. Professionals, high-school kids and even your grandma are getting getting savvy to ways of web 2.0. While most of us play together on this ever-expanding viral sandbox, there are always some who feel like it's their duty to start causing trouble. These ruckus-bringing baddies are oft-referred to as trolls. We know that nobody likes trolls, but what exactly is a troll and what makes them tick?

How far can a business go without a website?

Wednesday 7/28/10 time 9:20 AM - Helena @Moogo

how_far_can_a_business_go.jpg

There are many companies that don't have a website. And it's just something that is not easy for me to understand - not because I work with Moogo, but because as a young person I look for information on the web. So if a company is not there then I simply can't find it. Further more, I keep wondering how these companies survive and how far they can really get without having a website.

Every year I get yellow pages sent to my home by post. I really haven't asked anyone to send it to me, but it still comes. Every year I have done the same thing - I get amazed of how many companies have spent their advertising money on it and then just throw the book away. Firstly, if I want to find any service, I would most definitely not use information on a paper for that. Secondly, these contact informations don't tell me anything about these companies. I was to know more than their phone number - if they have what I want, if their product is good, if anyone recommends the company etc. Even if I was just looking for a phone number, I'd rather pull out my mobile phone to check their site.

Usability, your secret to more customers.

Monday 7/26/10 time 9:10 AM - Lisa Duddington

picture_242.jpgThis weeks post is by Lisa Duddington who owns keepitusable, a web design and usability service provider. We have worked with Lisa before and totally recommend her services. Lisa is also an established blogger and you can read more of her thoughts on www.usabilitygal.com.

What is usability?

Usability is all about making things easy to use. Think about your everyday life... if something is easy to use doesnʼt it make you want to use it more? Donʼt you recommend it  to others? Itʼs exactly the same with websites. This is why as much as 95% of potential sales can be lost by a site that has poor usability.

Guest post: SEO - How to determine the best search terms?

Wednesday 7/7/10 time 8:38 AM - Roy Huiskes

seosearchterms2.jpgEvery SEO project starts with only one question: Which search term brings the best connection between me, my product and my readers? Sure, you can try to start ranking for words like ‘mortgage’ or ‘loan’ but that will only bring you disillusion in so many ways you never want to work on SEO or your website ever again. Think small. By starting to think small, you actually look at the bigger picture. Now, that’s a contradiction to start a blog post with!
