We have already previously featured the 3 finalists in our blog, but here's what we think brought brought the prize to hamibhutani.com:

Website with clear purpose

Every good website is built for communicating something important to the world or uniting a community. On Bhutanese Canadian Association website, one can understand what the website is about and who it is for. Additionally, it has all the information that anyone interested in the topic would need - starting with relevant news and ending with entertainment for visitors.

It clearly shows that the website is not just a website - it is a resource and a uniting platform.

It is easy to find the information that you need

Usability is one of the most important things in any website. It doesn't matter how great the website looks - if you can't find anything or are confused with navigation, it just doesn't work. Therefore, we're happy to experience a good usability on hamibhutani.com - clear menu with not too many different items on it, informative side blocks and structured content.

Design that stands out

Hamibhutani.com has used a custom layout and design as a basis for creating their website. However, they have changed colors, the size of the layout and customized their top bar. Quite often there are only small changes needed to give a website more personality and character. That's exactly what has been done with hamibhutani.com.

All in all, it's the website in a whole that just works. The content wouldn't matter if the usability was bad, as well as the usability wouldn't stand out if the design didn't support it. Therefore one really needs to find the perfect balance between different components of a website.

We would like to thank Bhutanese Canadian Association for submitting their website to the Website of the Month competition. We hope you enjoy another year subscription with Moogo!

Special thanks also go to Gustavo Bravo and Need 2 Dance, the other finalists and winners of 3 month subscriptions.

We appreciate all the participants of the Website of the Month in February 2010 - we hope you got some good feedback and keep developing your website.

Website of the Month is going to be back again in March, so get ready to show your website to the world!
